An Atheist Goes to Jerusalem

Photos from my trip to Jerusalem, a strange experience visiting the world's holiest sites just after deciding I was an atheist.

About a week before visiting Jerusalem I decided I was an atheist. To be brief, I switched brands from agnosticism to atheism because I stopped using “God” as a vocab term for life's mysteries. This shift incidentally tinted my time in the Holy Land.

Admittedly, it meant I was more skeptical. The leaps of faith seemed a bit longer. Terms like "alleged", "believed to be", and "according to tradition" rang a little louder. I didn't cross my arms and scowl at everything, but I rarely accepted any information as fact.

Later, I realized this experience made me more cautious of secular historical information too. It reminded me that facts can't be taken for granted, even if they seem plausible. After all, history is only a construction of interpretations.
